- 3.2 beta 8 to 3.2 beta 9: you need this file
- 3.2 beta 7 to 3.2 beta 9: you need pgs32b79.lha
- 3.2 beta 6 to 3.2 beta 9: you need pgs32b69.lha
- 3.1 beta 5 to 3.2 beta 9: you need pgs32b59.lha
- older versions to 3.2 beta 9: you must upgrade to beta 5 first

TO USE THIS PATCH:

1. You must have PageStream 3.2 beta 7 installed to use this file! If you
have a different version, you must upgrade to beta 7 first or check for
another patch for your version. Links to the files are available at
http://www.softlogik.com/prgupdat.html.

2. You must have a battery-backed clock in your Amiga. This time-limited
public beta will not work without a clock, even if you manually set the
date before using the program.

3. This update requires disk 1 of your original PageStream3 disk set. It
will not be modified by the update.

4. You must have sufficient free hard drive space to use this patch. 4MB
of free space is recommended.


THIS IS A TIME-LIMITED PUBLIC BETA OF PAGESTREAM 3.2

You will be able to use the features of this beta until October 12th.
After then, you must install 3.1 or 3.2.

This version of PageStream is a beta version, but we believe it is
suitable for production work. However, it is a beta version and we do not
guarantee it for production work. Use it at your own risk. We suggest
backing up your existing version of PageStream and your documents before
using this version.


USING THIS PATCH

IF YOU HAVE 5MB OR MORE OF FREE RAM, you can decompress the archives to
RAM and not worry about memory limitations.

IF YOU HAVE 4MB OF FREE RAM, you can decompress the archives to RAM, but
you must delete the archives from RAM before running the patch. (Copy
them somewhere safe in case you need them again!)

IF YOU HAVE LESS THAN 4MB OF FREE RAM, you must decompress the archives
to a hard drive directory because you'll need all your RAM for the patch.

A drawer called "3.2Beta9" will be created when you decompress the
patches. Double click on the Install-3.2Beta9 icon in this drawer to
begin.


YOU SHOULD KEEP A COPY OF THE PATCH FILES UNTIL AFTER YOU HAVE
SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED THIS UPDATE IN CASE YOU NEED TO RUN IT AGAIN!

If you delete them after decompressing them, and something goes wrong
during patching, you will have to download them again! If you have
adequate hard drive space, simply select the PageStream3 directory and
choose Copy from the Workbench's Icon menu to make a complete duplicate
of your PageStream3 directory. If you have a problem with the patch, you
will have a backup to restore.


LOW MEMORY NOTES

If you do not have enough memory to install this patch (the patch utility
will fail if there is not enough free memory), you can conserve memory by
decompressing the patch archives to your hard drive instead of to RAM:.
If the patch fails due to low memory, you will not be able to use
PageStream3 until you have successfully installed the patch because you
will then have a mixture of new and old files. If you need to run the
patch manually, decompress the PGSpatch.LHA archive. Use the spatch
utility from this archive. The command syntax is:

spatch -oPageStream3:PageStreamNew -pPageStream.pch PageStream3:PageStream3

The first parameter is the new version, the second parameter is the
patch file name (include the path if required), and the third
parameter is the currently installed version of PageStream3. Delete
the old PageStream3:PageStream3 file when you're done and then rename the
new version to the normal name (ie, PageStreamNew to PageStream3).

If you have previously compressed the PageStream3 or BME program files
with something such as PowerPacker, you will probably not be able to use
this patch, even if you decompress them.
