This is a non-GM sequence of the 2nd movement of Shostakovich's
mammoth 7th "Leningrad" Symphony. Since the author used
so many instruments, it is necessary to have 2 sound
sources (modules, sound cards, or keyboards) and a multi-
port MIDI interface...or do some serious re-arranging.
I have used a Proteus 2 and a Korg O3R/W (with Orchestral
ROM card). If the first word in the track name is "Korg"
it is for the latter sound module, otherwise the track was
intended for the Proteus 2. I used a Korg P3 piano module
for the piano track. All tracks have been transposed
to C, where necessary.
Notes and exceptions (such as program changes within
tracks):
Flutes: from bar 250 to the end I have used the 2 Flutes
program for the Proteus 2 in order to lower the pitch
sufficiently for the Alto Flute that Shostakovich uses at
this point).
"Arco Violins" track: this was the "overflow" when some
violins were playing pizzicato.
Proteus 2 owners note that I have transposed the basses
tracks and the contrabasoon track down an octave, so you
should transpose them back up an octave for correct playback.
Similarly, I have transposed the piccolo track up an
octave.
